#COOLER MASTER HYPER 212 EVO INSTALL ON AMD FX 8320 UPGRADE#
People looking to upgrade their current X58 motherboard and CPUs have provided the second hand market with a cheap and yet powerful platform to build around and Cooler Master can now capitalise on this market with an appropriately priced cooler. On initial impressions, it seems a somewhat puzzling move to introduce this support at the end of the platform’s life cycle but it actually makes sense. The most significant change from a personal view is its new found support for LGA1366. However, taking a closer look at the specifications, we note that the TX3 EVO follows on the same footstep as its Hyper 212 EVO sibling in that it bundles a quieter lower RPM fan but unlike the latter, “Continuous Direct Contact Technology” hasn’t been employed in this variant of the EVO line. Both share the same heatsink design and make use of three 6mm heat pipes. Superficially, there doesn’t appear to be much different between the new EVO and its predecessor we previously reviewed here. As such, Cooler Master are intent to carry the same formula across to their TX3 with the same aim in mind, delivering good performance in a compact package. Marked as an evolution in cooling and acoustic performance over its predecessor, the Hyper 212 EVO proved to be another hit. Last week, we had an in-depth look at one of Cooler Master’s most successful products, their Hyper 212 EVO. Snap the fan onto the cooler and connect the 4 pin PWM connector to the CPU FAN header on the board.Product on Review: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO Make sure to alternate tightening each clip, one turn at a time to ensure even spread of the thermal paste. Position the two metal clips over the plastic mounting points and tighten the thumb screws. Once thermal paste has been applied (or if using the pre-applied thermal paste) place the cooler evenly onto the CPU. In this example we can see with Corsair LPX modules, there is ample clearance but installation would not be possible in slot #4 (far left) with the cooler installed first. To ensure all 4 RAM slots can be populated, customers must install their DIMMs prior to installing their Hyper 212 EVO. An updated (Gen2) mounting bracket will be available mid-March that will allow up/down or front/back orientation. This current solution only allows the cooler to be mounted in one orientation (up/down) so there potentially could be some clearance issues for DIMMs with tall heat spreaders installed in slot #4 (closest to the CPU Socket). It is also available for existing 212 EVO owners for $4.99.
